Wilson: No Fear From Us

From Rangers.co.uk:

AIDAN WILSON insists Rangers’ under-20s will have no fear as they jet-off to take-on Bayern Munich tomorrow lunchtime as part of their Games Programme.

The central defender admits there may have been a worry from some going into games with such illustrious opponents at the start of the season, but that has now disappeared.

Wilson feels he has benefited greatly from the matches they have played so far in the campaign, and expects to learn even more in Bavaria tomorrow.

He told RangersTV: “Bayern Munich are one of the best teams in the world, and I’m sure they have great young talent. This is exactly what the Games Programme has been bringing us – there have been a lot of difficult opposition teams, but I am happy with my development and hopefully I can keep moving forward.

“There are a lot of things I’ve been trying to work on, and the Games Programme has helped to develop me in a way I’m happy with. Sometimes in the game, and with the emotions of the game, it can be difficult to see things to improve on,  but when you look back, you can see different aspects of it.

“All the boys are confident – there was maybe a fear before, but the more big teams we play, that fear goes”

Wilson was part of the first-team pool for the trip to Florida, and feels he also benefited from that experience.

He added: “It was great. It was nice to get some good weather and to play against some different opposition. It was a great learning curve for me. When you go with the first team, it is a good challenge for you and it’s good to learn from the experienced pro’s.

“It was good to get away with them again, and all round for me it was a good experience. Atletico are a really strong side, and to come up against them and get some minutes on the pitch was great for me.”

RangersTV will follow the team to Germany this weekend, with full highlights to come from the game next week.

We’ll also cover the game live on our @RFC_Youth Twitter account, and go behind the scenes at Sabener Strasse on our official Instagram page – simply follow ‘RangersFC’. Kick-off is at midday UK time.
