Garreth Bale’s 6th minute header gave Tottenham all the confidence they needed to secure an impressive 3-0 victory over Inter Milan at White Hart Lane on Thursday.

The Hotspurs completely dominated their Italian opponents, but will have to play the 2nd leg without their talismanic forward after he picked up a yellow card suspension for an extremely harsh simulation call in the first half.

Goals: Spurs – Bale (6), Sigurdsson (18), Vertonghen (53)

Spurs (4-4-2): Friedel; Walker, Gallas, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto; Lennon (Naughton, 82), Dembele (Livermore, 64), Parker, Sigurdsson (Holtby, 71); Bale, Defoe. Unused subs: Lloris, Caulker, Dawson, Naughton, Carroll

Inter Milan: Handanovic; Zanetti, Chivu, Ranocchia, Juan (Palacio, 46); Cambassio, Gargano; Alvarez (Jonathan, 67), Kovacic (Guarin, 56), Pereira; Cassano. Unused subs: Belec, Benassi, Pasa, Mbaye
