Uncharted Play Presents: The Soccket

While watching Euro 2012, you may have seen the t.v. commercial featuring four students from Harvard University who are using a soccer ball to produce power.

Their invention, The Soccket, uses a gyroscopic mechanism inside the ball to convert the energy from kicking into a 6-watt power outlet.

The idea was featured during the 2011 Clinton Global Initiative and has been funded and backed by the Clinton Foundation.

It seems simple, but could harness the power of sport to benefit lives in a tangible, productive way. So if you’re looking to donate to a good cause or purchase a new power outlet try Soccket.org.
