103rd U.S. Open Cup Preview

Don’t forget, the 2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup starts on Wednesday!

The prestigious tournament holds a curiously low profile, but provides American soccer fans with the exclusive opportunity to watch their favorite teams from different leagues playing against each other.

The First Round will consist of 46 teams from across the Premier Development League (PDL), National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), and Open Division local qualifiers, while the following rounds will see the introduction of the United Soccer League (USL), North American Soccer League (NASL), and eventually Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs.

Reigning champions Sporting Kansas City will begin the quest to retain their title when the Fourth Round begins on June 15th.
