La Liga’s top two teams played out a scoreless draw at the Vicente Calderón Stadium on Saturday, as second half appearances by Lionel Messi and Neymar failed to spark Barcelona’s attack against the resolute defending of Atletico Madrid.

Diego Simeone’s men were impressively organized as usual, threatening on the break and mixing in some excellent soccer in between.

Barca maintained the majority of possession, but struggled to create any sort of threat in the final third.

Both teams now have 50 points through 19 games.

Atlético: Courtois, Juanfran, Miranda, Godín, Filipe Luis, Tiago (Cristian Rodríguez, 83’), Gabi, Koke, Arda, David Villa (Raúl García, 77’), Diego Costa

Barcelona: Valdés, Dani Alves, Mascherano, Piqué, Jordi Alba, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta (Messi, 46’), Cesc, Alexis (Neymar, 67’), Pedro (Sergi Roberto, 82’)
