Murty Expects Tough Test

From Rangers.co.uk:

GRAEME MURTY believes Corinthians will provide a great challenge for his Rangers squad this afternoon.

Fabio Carille’s side got the Florida Cup started when they faced PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday, and after the 90 minutes finished 1-1 the Brazilian champions won the penalty shootout that followed 5-4.

Rangers of course enjoyed an excellent victory in their first game of the tournament on Thursday night, with Josh Windass’ terrific finish in the 68th minute stunning Atlético Mineiro in the Orlando City Stadium.

Today’s game against Corinthians will kick-off at 1pm Eastern Standard Time at the 45,000-capacity Spectrum Stadium, which was opened in 2007 and is home to American football team the UCF (University of Central Florida) Knights.

Murty is looking forward to the match coming up and speaking after the win against Atlético, he said: “It’s going to be a tough one.

We saw them play the other day and they have an extra day to rest but also we are looking at a few people with knocks. We are trying to make sure we balance the load out if we can.

“Obviously not having Ryan [Jack] and Ross [McCrorie] in the group weakens us in that regard, but we have to make sure when we come up against Corinthians we match the better parts of our level, we take care of the ball as well as we did and we actually are a little bit more ruthless than we were today at both ends.

“If we do that it should be a good game, but the guys have put themselves in a good situation going into that match.”
