Manchester United midfield woes continue
01/07/2014 Sunderland, England
Another dismal performance from Manchester United cost them a 2-1 defeat to Sunderland in the Capital One Cup semi-final at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday.
The United midfield continued to underwhelm against the last placed team in the Premier League, despite David Moyes fielding a strong lineup around them.
Tom Cleverly, in particularly, added to his usual offensive woes by struggling to contain Adam Johnson all game long, culminating in an almost inevitable penalty giveaway from the England International just after the hour mark.
Fabio Borini stepped up to convert the spot kick, giving the Black Cats a one goal lead heading into the semi-final return leg at Old Trafford on January 22nd.
