Borussia Dortmund’s rusty Bundesliga form continued against Werder Bremen on Friday, but a second half strike from Robert Lewandowski secured a 1-0 result at the Signal Iduna Park.

Jürgen Klopp’s men displayed their trademark energy and fervor in front of the home fans, but lacked their usual sharpness in attack.

The $34 million signing from Shakhtar Donetsk Henrikh Mkhitaryan struggled in the central attacking midfield role and has yet to make an impression for his new side.

Fortunately for the BVB, they still scored a fantastic winner to secure a perfect 3-0 start in the Bundesliga this season.

Borussia Dortmund: Weidenfeller, Großkreutz, Subotic, Hummels, Schmelzer, Kehl, Sahin, Blaszczykowski (Aubameyang 68), Mkhitaryan (Hofmann 81), Reus (Bender 88), Lewandowski

Werder Bremen: Mielitz, Gebre Selassie, Prödl, Lukimya, Caldirola, Makiadi, Yildirim, Hunt, Junuzovic, Ekici, Arnautovic

Goal: Lewandowski (54)
