Republic of Ireland

After losing out on a World Cup berth in 2010 because of a Thierry Henry handball goal that eliminated them from qualifying, it’s good to see Ireland pull together and qualifying for a major international tournament. They share the longest odds to win with Denmark, but that’s partly because of the difficulty of their group. With current title holders Spain and perennial contenders Italy to fend off, it may be tough to advance. But don’t underestimate the footballing heart of this nation.

Giovanni Trapattoni
