Les Bleus won the World Cup in 1984 and 2000, but their 2010 campaign ended in spectacular fashion  involving a team boycott of training and  a player being sent home after disagreements with an incapable coach in Raymond Domenech. This year’s team has tempered expectations, but as always will feature top talent.

Laurent Blanc

Standout players:

Yohan Gourcuff – Has been inconsistent since his transfer to Olympique Lyonnais, but will have to pull the strings for the Bleus to orchestrate any attack

Karim Benzema – The Big Cat plays for Real Madrid in Spain, is a very clever, wily forward who has been pushed into top form by club coach Jose Mourinho.

Franck Ribery – one of the top 5 wingers in the world when fit, applies his trade at Bayern Munich in Germany.
