Daniel Candeias Signs New Deal

RANGERS are delighted to announce that Daniel Candeias has signed a new contract at the club.

The Portuguese winger was the fifth signing of the summer and as the leading assist provider in the league, he has been rewarded with an extended stay at the club until the summer of 2020.

Candeias has made 36 competitive appearances for the Gers in his first season so far scoring six goals and contributing eight assists. He grabbed his first goal for the club in the 6-0 League Cup win over Dunfermline with a stunning free kick strike.

Candeias has formed a telepathic relationship on the right hand side of the pitch with James Tavernier for the Light Blues, who also recently extended his contract with the club. Other players to have extended their contracts this season include Wes Foderingham, Josh Windass and Alfredo Morelos.

Thirty-year-old Candeias started his senior career with Porto and was loaned out Portuguese sides Varzim, Rio Ave and Paços de Ferreira as well as Spanish side Recreativo.

His was then signed by Nacional, where he made 85 appearances over four years and scored 13 goals. During that time he was loaned to Portimonense and then moved to Benfica. He has also had spells with FC Nürnberg in Germany, Granada CF in Spain and FC Metz in France.

He was on loan with Alanyaspor in Turkey before joining joining Rangers and has represented Portugal at under-16 and under-23 level.
