Copa Lib Final: Atlético Mineiro Suffer 1st Leg Loss

07/17/2013  Asunción, Paraguay

Club Olimpia defeated Atlético Mineiro 2-0 in the 2013 Copa Libertadores Final at the Estadio Defensores del Chaco on Wednesday.

Alejandro Silva opened the scoring for the Paraguayans after a fabulous run from the right wing left him enough space at the top of the box to dispatch a low left-footed drive off the inside post.

The Galo had outplayed the hosts for much of the opening period, but struggled to regain their momentum afterwards, eventually resulting in a controversial substitution by Cuca for club captain Ronaldinho in the 64th minute.

Unfortuantely for the Brazilian manager, this seemed to deflate his side even more and the hosts added another goal in stoppage time.

A delicate free-kick off the crossbar from Wilson Pittoni in the 93rd minute means Olimpia will take a two goal advantage into the 2nd leg in Belo Horizonte on Wednesday.
