Arsenal retained their lead atop the Premier League with a 2-0 victory against Fulham on Saturday, as Clint Dempsey’s Cottagers extended their battle with relegation.

The American International made his third appearance since procuring a loan move to London from the Seattle Sounders, but struggled to make an impact against a Gunners’ defense which has only conceded a league-best 6 goals at home.

After a scoreless first half, Santi Cazorla struck two fine goals on either side of the hour mark to give Arsene Wenger’s men their 16th win of the season and a one point advantage over Manchester City.

Arsenal: Szczesny; Sagna, Monreal; Flamini; Mertesacker, Koscielny; Gnabry (Podolski 71′); Wilshere; Giroud; Özil (Oxlade-Chamberlain 86′), Cazorla

Fulham FC: Stekelenburg; Riether, Richardson; Sidwell; Hangeland, Burn; Dejagah (Bent 68′); Parker; Berbatov; Dempsey, Kacaniklic (Kasami 86′)
